Piano player in Brechemin Auditorium
Brechemin Auditorium is the main hall for lectures and recitals given at the School of Music. It is located on the first floor of the Music Building, and it seats 219. Every year, many guests, faculty members, and students give lectures and performances in this space.
DXARTS performance
The Center for Digital Arts and Experimental Media (DXARTS), an interdisciplinary degree-granting center designed to support the emergence of a new generation of hybrid artists. DXARTS fosters the invention of new forms of digital and experimental arts by synthesizing expanded studio research with pioneering advances in digital computing, information technologies, performance, science, and engineering. Embracing an expansive range of arts practice, theory, and research across multiple disciplines, DXARTS creates opportunities for artists to discover and document new knowledge and expertise in an evolving field of media arts.
Fishbowl, Music Building Room 101
Music Building Room 101, popularly known as the Fishbowl, is located off the main lobby on the ground floor of the Music Building.  A conference room and meeting space, the Fishbowl may be reserved by students for receptions following their degree recitals and by faculty and UW community members for other events and meetings, to be approved by appropriate School of Music staff on a case-by-case basis.
Katharyn Alvord Gerlich Theater
The School of Music uses the 1,206-seat Katharyn Alvord Gerlich Theater, known until recently as Meany Theater, as its main concert venue for large ensemble performances, full-scale opera productions, faculty recitals, and guest artist appearances. The School’s symphony, wind band ensembles, and large choral ensembles each present quarterly concerts at Gerlich Theater. The School’s percussion, studio jazz, and modern music ensembles also also present concerts on the Meany Center mainstage.
Meany Studio Theater
The School of Music also presents annual performances in the 238-seat Meany Studio Theater, including events by the UW Percussion Ensemble and the Opera Workshop. Operated by the School of Drama, Meany Studio Theater is a multi-use facility presenting performances in music, dance, and theater.
