David Kappy, professor of horn, holds M.M. and B.M. degrees from the University of Wisconsin and has a D.M.A. in progress at Yale University. A former member of Soni Ventorum and other chamber music groups, he has numerous recordings on the Crystal, Musical Heritage, Delos, Telarc, and American Gramophone labels, and has recorded with groups as diverse as the Soni Ventorum Wind Quintet and Mannheim Steamroller.
Kappy received a Fulbright Award to teach at the Federal University of Minas in Brazil (1985) and has also taught at the Interlochen Arts Academy.
He has performed as solo horn with the Omaha and Lincoln (Nebraska) Symphonies, and the Omaha Opera, and in the horn section of the Seattle Symphony and the St. Louis Symphon. Kappy is a veteran of the Grand Teton and Claremont Music Festivals, and the Festival de Inverno in Campos de Jordao, Brazil.
