School of Music Professor Robin McCabe hosts this series of performances involving faculty, students, and guest artists honoring the 150th anniversary of the birth of French composer Claude Debussy. Each performance is preceded by brief remarks to contextualize the repertoire performed. Program highlights include the Debussy song cycle Fêtes Galantes for soprano and piano (Lisa Prina, soprano and Huang Ting “Grace” Yao, piano); Ravel's Jeux d’Eau
(Eunhyo Woo, piano); Debussy’s Violin and Piano Sonata (JaeIn Shin, violin, and Brent Nitta, piano); Manuel de Falla's guitar solo Le Tombeau de Debussy (Brian Margell, guitar); and Toru Takemitsu’s And Then I Knew 'Twas Wind (Katherine Isbill, flute; Romaric Pokorny, viola, and Olivia Cacchione, harp).

Concert: Oceana Quartet and others
Paul Roberts of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, a renowned concert pianist and specialist in French Impressionism, presents “Capturing the Illusive Image: The Debussy Preludes,” a lecture-recital on the piano music of Claude Debussy. The lecture is followed by a concert of works by Debussy, including his String Quartet, (performed by the School of Music’s Oceana Quartet); Sonata (1915) (performed by Katherine Isbill, flute; Romaric Pokorny, viola; and Olivia Cacchione, harp); and Petite Suite (for four hands, piano) performed by Britannee Hwee and Joseph Dougherty.
